Last of the pre-rides

I have finished riding my semi-long pre-rides.  I did a couple of 60+ mile rides in the east mountains of Albuquerque Saturday and Monday.  Yesterday, I rode a 35 mile city loop through Albuquerque with my good friend Ben Welch.  Today, I did a short 14 mile ride with Ben and his wife Kim and Kim’s sister.  This was the first time that Kim had done a ride (on her new “ninja” carbon fiber Bianchi bicycle) since the birth of their daughter Emma about a month ago.  Just made it back to the house before the rain started.

My Albuquerque area rides have been great and it has been wonderful to have redone some of the rides I did years ago.  Now, the concentration has to be on getting myself and my things ready for the trip to San Diego.  Tomorrow, that will be the main agenda.  Hopefully, I will remember everything that I have to take for the trip.

This evening,  we had a sort of bon voyage barbecue dinner with my family (Son Tommy and his 4 children, Matt, Carson, Katie, and Olivia; Daughter Erin and her daughter Ayanna; and Daughter Megan and son-in-law Phil and their 3 children, Jordyn, Case, and Ryann).  Jordyn is the oldest, just turning 7 years old yesterday.  You can imagine the chaos in the house during dinner!!  Had a great time, and really enjoyed the evening!!  I will certainly miss them all while I am gone for the next month and a half.  By the way, Rudy’s Barbecue is the best!!

I have also posted some of the
pre-ride pictures that I have taken.  I have throughly enjoyed all of the rides that I have done to get ready for my coast-to-coast epic ride!
