Day 25, Perry Georgia to Metter Georgia

Again, very cool temperatures at the start of the ride.  Today offered not as much climbing as yesterday, and we were thankful for that.  The first part of the ride was along a well traveled highway.  I dislike these types of roadways for the amount of traffic they carry.  However, eventually, we got off on highways that were not nearly as well traveled.  There were lots of good looking houses and farms, a number of small lakes, and lots of forested land with long, tall pine trees.  Of course, there were the usual logging trucks traveling along the highways.  A lot of the small towns that we went through had many buildings and stores that were boarded up and unused.  Saw a lot of that today.

I had some time (as I usually do) to think about the ride so far.  I had to pinch myself to believe that I am actually doing this ride.  It seems like a blur, like a lifetime, and very surreal at times.  Tomorrow, we ride through Savannah and eventually out to Tybee Island Georgia.  That is the end point of the ride.  During the ride, the participants are usually spread out along the highways for several miles.  Tomorrow, they will hold us at the last rest stop which will be about 5 miles from the end point, and we will ride into Tybee Island together.  It will be an emotional event for me, since it means we will finally finish this Epic Journey.

I have more thoughts on the ride, and will share them in the next couple of days.  More to follow..
