Climbing Around Albuquerque
Sunday, September 04, 2011 Category: Bike Ride
Just a few more days before I head off to San Diego. I have planned a few rides with some climbing, since I know there will be a lot of climbing on the upcoming ride. The turn around point on highway 14 is at the top of about a 9 mile climb. Not too steep, but a nice ride up the hill! Tomorrow, I will be riding about 60 miles, and climbing for about 3000 feet. Can’t wait.... The picture on the right is heading back into Albuquerque on old highway 66.
Back years ago, I used to ride this climb every day for time. I haven’t done this ride for about a year, but it wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.
Still many details to take care of before I head to San Diego on September 9. Getting excited about the upcoming ride. However, I checked the temperatures for Brawley, El Centro, Blythe, and Wickenberg AZ, and they are all well above 100 degrees. Hopefully, I can handle the heat, even though I haven’t been riding in very hot temperatures.
