Day 3, Blythe California to Wickenburg Arizona

Today’s ride took us from California into Arizona.  The ride distance was 115 miles with 3430 feet of climbing.  Thankfully, the climbs were gradual ascents, with no real steep climbs during the ride.  Not too far into Arizona, it rained for about 15 minutes, just enough to cool things off and give me a good soaking.

We gradually climbed out of the Colorado river valley on Interstate 10.  After a short ride down the interstate, we turned off on US 60 which was a direct route into Wickenburg.  Weather was interesting, because the winds came up (rather strong!) and after the third rest stop, kicked up a nice dust storm that we had to ride into.  Also, lots of moisture in the atmosphere today, causing very cloudy (and sometimes rainy) conditions.

My riding partner experience a flat tire (first one of the tour), and so we had to take some time to fix the flat.  This was as the wind was howling!

Tomorrow, 104 miles with 9000 feet of climbing to get into Cottonwood, AZ.  Should be an interesting day.  Look forward to wonderful scenery, but not looking forward to the large climbs.....  I will try to take more pictures tomorrow.
